Syekh Mishaal Takes Oath and Advocates Review of ‘Kuwait’s Reality’

GARDAMILITARY – Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait, took the constitutional oath before the National Assembly On Wednesday.

According to the Kuwait News Agency, Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah took the constitutional oath during a special session of the National Assembly in accordance with Article 60 of the Constitution.

The Amir then recited the oath: “I swear by Almighty God to respect the Constitution and the laws of the country, protect the freedoms and interests of the people, their property, and safeguard the independence and integrity of the country’s territories.”

In an extraordinary Cabinet meeting last Saturday, Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was called upon to assume the position of Amir in accordance with the Constitution and Article 4 of Law No. 4 of 1964.

In his first address after taking the constitutional oath, the new Amir of Kuwait emphasized the importance of reviewing the current situation in Kuwait, particularly in terms of security, the economy, and living conditions.

Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah added, “We have not observed any changes or corrections in the direction taken.”

He continued, “As political leaders, we must be close to everyone. We emphasize the importance of oversight, monitoring, objective accountability, and serious accountability within the framework of the Constitution and laws for negligence, shortcomings, and abuse of the interests of citizens.”

Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah is the 17th ruler of Kuwait according to the Constitution and the law of hereditary leadership, succeeding the late Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who passed away last Saturday.

Furthermore, Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah expressed his commitment to prioritize stability, development, and the well-being of Kuwaiti society. He emphasized the need to collaborate with all segments of society, promote national unity, and preserve the sovereignty of the country.

In this context, the new Amir of Kuwait responded to the challenges faced by Kuwait, including changes in regional and global situations. He pledged to maintain national security, support sustainable economic policies, and enhance the welfare of the people.

Additionally, Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah highlighted the importance of transparency, accountability, and efficiency in governance. He promised to promote the values of democracy, human rights, and social justice.

In conclusion, the Amir expressed gratitude to the people of Kuwait for their support and loyalty. He expressed confidence that, through cooperation and a spirit of unity, Kuwait will overcome various challenges and achieve sustainable progress under his leadership.
